Change your career, change lives
The Open University is the UK’s largest university, a world leader in flexible part-time distance education combining a mission to widen access to higher education with research excellence, transforming lives through education.
The Design Group at The Open University has an international reputation as a pioneer in distance design education. We are excited to announce a significant investment in developing our design undergraduate curriculum through the creation of a new distance learning design degree reflecting new innovations in delivery and structure. We aim to appoint three new academic staff to join our team to support the production of this new design curriculum. Two of these posts can be appointed at the senior lecturer level.
Successful candidates will contribute to the vision to build a transformative distance design education programme. If you’re enthusiastic and have experience in Higher Education design teaching, and the knowledge and appreciation of developing learning resources for distance learning, then this might be the role for you!
You will have the opportunity to develop the competences and capabilities for design thinking in both theory and practice, and to develop project-based learning through innovative relationships.
You will also conduct independent research in areas that align with existing strategic research priorities in design: design processes, co- design, sustainable design and innovation and design education.
