Strategic brand-building and communications agency are on the lookout for a Head of Design to help run in-house design team in West London (near Notting Hill). They are working hard on their journey to being a fully sustainable business, striving for positive economic, social and environmental impacts. They work collaboratively across teams including Beauty, Fashion, Lifestyle, Global, VIP & Special Projects, Creative Insights & Digital (CID) and Production Studio.

This person will be leading the creative studio team on design and branding projects for clients supervising and developing outstanding design projects. You will help develop and implement design strategies across a number of clients as well as actively identifying new areas or clients to be targeted. These prospects should sit comfortably with the agencies existing divisions and core areas of expertise. You will manage and improve existing clients’ relationships, delivering desired outcomes and quality final products. This is a dynamic, hands on role where you will be able to pick up a client, lead the strategy and produce business proposals with confidence and assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop design objectives and strategy that satisfy the clients brief, balancing strategic thinking, creativity and budget
  • Negotiate and prepare programmes for clients
  • Liaising with the wider company to create design strategies across different channels
  • Proactively pitch new ideas to the client - ensure concepts are aligned with overall business/PR objectives and strategy
  • Deliver accurate budgets required for execution of plans covering team time/resource as well as any potential costs that will be incurred
  • Monitor client account performance to identify any issues and opportunities to drive brand development and performance
  • Develop client appropriate evaluation again objectives
  • Keep abreast of developments in the design industry to ensure thorough, relevant client counsel is delivered
  • Leading on the post-campaign qualitative and quantitative evaluation process/management identifying key learnings and opportunities for improvement
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of design projects
  • Responsible for monitoring design projects timeline and performance
  • Actively participate in pitching and winning of new business for the company
  • Conduct research on both brands, products and industry to support the development of new business proposals
  • Maintain close and regular client liaison, anticipating potential problem areas and devising solutions
  • Cultivates long term client relationships
  • Ensure client expectations and needs are met
  • Negotiate and prepare programmes for clients
  • Determine when the Director’s direct involvement with clients is required and at what level
  • Develop client appropriate evaluation against objectives
  • Maintain close and regular client liaison, anticipating potential problem areas and devising solutions

Key Skills:

  • 6-7 years design experience, ideally across fashion, lifestyle and beauty clients
  • Previous experience working in a fast paced environment agency
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current trends, market developments and trend forecasting
  • Ability to cultivate strong partnerships across cross-functional teams
  • Significant experience leading integrated design teams (Brand, Digital)
  • Ability to communicate ideas, i.e. sketches, written, verbal
  • Demonstrable experience of developing client relationships
  • Solid experience in planning and organising  schedules and deadlines
  • Strong team management skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English other languages a bonus Strong working knowledge in design across lifestyle, fashion and beauty
  • Expert knowledge of UX/UI design principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of Motion/Prototyping/Programming Arts/JS
  • Strong understanding how mobile, web and screen-based content works
  • Good knowledge of what's possible when designing for HTML, CSS3 and JavaScript
  • Highly proficient graphics and digital software including Sketch, Invision, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Illustrator
  • Passionate about creativity and finding innovative solutions for our clients
  • Confident advising on design projects and strategies
  • Experience in presenting and preparing pitch documents
  • Strong client liaison and relationship building skills
  • Embraces change and demonstrates adaptability
  • Must thrive in a fast paced and dynamic working environment
  • Confident and upbeat persona both with colleagues and clients
