We are now recruiting for the role of Aesthetics Director for the Group.
In Bettys & Taylors the way things look and feel have been developed and evolved over a period of time by many hands, from Frederick Belmont through to Jonathan and Lesley Wild. The work we’ve done to create our strategies and the Parameters that underpin them, has reminded us it is important that we protect and nurture our special and unique style. It is a valued asset to sustain us for the future.
It is with this in mind that we have created the role of the Aesthetics Director, reporting to Rachel Fellows, Chair of the CCEO. The Aesthetics Director will ensure that the quality and standards of design excellence throughout the organisation are maintained.
The new Aesthetics Director will partner with those in the business who make choices about our design and visual representation. Initially, their focus will be on our public and internal places and spaces. Together with those in the business they will ensure that the choices we make to maintain and develop the way we present ourselves are consistent with our established aesthetics. They will also work with a wider group of stakeholders, including Family Shareholders, who will play an important role in ensuring our design history and context is understood and offering guidance on the key principles that will help us develop our aesthetic for the future.
To be successful in this role, the Aesthetics Director will need:
- A discerning eye for detail, proportion, style, aesthetics;
- An understanding of buildings and interiors and how they need to be designed to enable business activities to operate effectively;
- Ability to understand, tease out and articulate the Bettys & Taylors Group aesthetic;
- Ongoing interest in the history of design and the arts plus current styles, trends and references;
- Relevant qualifications and several years of hands-on experience from a variety of creative backgrounds.
Coupled with this, the Aesthetics Director will need to be a strategic thinker who is able to communicate well both in words and images. The Aesthetics Director will also need to be prepared to be hands on, practical, highly adaptable and possess excellent interpersonal skills to enable them to succeed in a matrixed way of working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Whilst full-time is preferred, we are open to considering part-time.
