Kew Royal Botanic Gardens
Richmond, London
Full time, Permanent

Kew is the world’s leading botanic gardens, at the forefront of plant and fungal science, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major visitor attraction.

We want a world where plants and fungi are understood, valued and conserved – because our lives depend on them.

We use the power of our science and the rich diversity of our gardens and collections to provide knowledge, inspiration and understanding of why plants and fungi matter to everyone.

Over the last year, Kew’s Creative Services team has worked on 1,000 design projects to help Kew’s 1.9 million visitors find out more, find their way around, and find out how they can help support Kew’s vital work for the future.

There have been festivals and exhibitions to promote, international research projects to launch, members, supporters and funders to be kept informed.

As Kew’s challenges and ambitions grow, so do the demands on Creative Services. That’s why we’re transforming our team, and the services we provide.

Our in-house Design Studio is responsible for maintaining Kew’s visual identity, championing high-quality design and providing creative advice and artwork for a huge variety of printed and display products.

We are looking for a technically-skilled Designer to help us deliver the broad range of creative work Kew requires to deliver its visitor services and business goals – from interpretation and wayfinding to marketing communications and events.

You will be responding to briefs from clients from across the organisation, and will have responsibility for your own projects from initial proposals to print-ready artwork. You will interpret existing design concepts for use across different platforms and media, to ensure all are consistent with Kew’s visual identity guidelines. You can also expect to provide design support to the other members of the studio during busy periods or on complex projects.

We offer a fantastic range of benefits including a broad range of Learning and Development opportunities, with access to the Civil Service training curriculum, generous annual leave entitlement for new starters, family friendly policies, a choice of competitive pensions and flexible benefits scheme.

For full details on this role please visit our website.

Closing date: 3 February 2019.

We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from all sections of the community. We guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for the post.

No agencies please.
