Goldsmiths' Communications department is looking for a graphic designer to join the in-house design team. Alongside experts from a range of backgrounds (corporate comms, newspapers, social media, video production, marketing, web development and design), you will liaise with and support academic departments as well as professional services teams. Together we communicate diverse messages and manage campaigns aimed at staff, students and beyond – across a range of platforms – and there are ample opportunities for knowledge exchange in this friendly team.
The ideal candidate will be a keen and confident communicator, able to liaise with colleagues and commissioners, and will have excellent skills in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator as well as PowerPoint. A flair for typography and page layout and a good understanding of marketing collateral and branding are essential. A degree of digital design knowledge would be an advantage, including production of assets for screen and the web. You'll be responsible of delivering creative design projects from start to finish, taking ownership of a brief from concept to print ready artwork, liaising directly with commissioners. The role can be fast-paced and it would suit a flexible, enthusiastic creative who loves the craft of design but can also deliver good ideas under pressure.
All applications must be submitted via Goldsmiths' website via the link. A pdf or your portfolio or a link to an online portfolio must be included with your application. As part of this, please select a single project in which you were involved and give a brief, illustrated account of your involvement in the project (no more than the equivalent of four pages, with images).
Applicants will be required to do a 20-minute technical test as part of the interview.
