A leading production studio that specialise in VFX and high-end CG imagery are looking to recruit a head of production for the successful delivery of all projects running through the studio.

This award-winning agency produce work for global client and leading brands and have been responisble for some highly recognisable work across a variety of platforms. The head of production will be managing all production staff and resources required to deliver all projects on brief and on budget, working alongside the Creative Directors in meeting all client deadlines and specifications.

You will be both the authority to drive, and the glue to harmonise people & processes. Reporting in to the ECD and the upper management team, you will be a strategic thinker, contributing positively to the success of the business, maximising GP through cost management and productivity improvements, and increasing capacity thereby enabling growth.

Responsibilities:

* Overseeing the smooth delivery of all projects going through the studio, with a focus on matching the right team and workflows to the jobs at hand and ensuring strong communication throughout; from project kick offs with clear roles and responsibilities, through setting milestones and creative reviews to rigorous quality control and accurate delivery.

* Overseeing the coordination of all of the moving parts of the department, from scheduling and studio traffic, project tracking tools and resource allocation, prioritisation and forecasting to capacity & utilization management. You will bring your successful ideas and experiences from previous production studios to unlock bottlenecks and optimize all aspects of production, to balance workloads and minimize errors and re-work.

* Manage and Support the Exec Producer to run the PM team and develop the production methodologies, behaviors and team structures to best meet the demands of our clients and project work. Maintain an overview of tracked project hours, and work with the PM team to ensure their artists' time is logged accurately, anticipating and minimizing project over-run or over-servicing of projects and pro-actively manage client expectations / demands, charging overages where appropriate.

* Overseeing the production side of the Bid process, liaising with Account Managers and New Business teams and Overseas Agents, ensuring appropriate PMs, Creative Directors and Artist Leads are appointed to creative calls or scheduled to create treatments / samples / Proofs of Concepts as necessary, and oversee the estimation of artist work hours, connecting with external partners to estimate outside costs such as for shoot production and external skill sets. Drive bid accuracy via project debriefs to improve the accuracy of future bids.

* Track production KPIs and police the accuracy of PM and Artist recorded data so as to confidently report into the Board on project and departmental performance against budgeted time and financial margins, with insight into any roadblocks or client issues and strategies to course-correct as appropriate.

* Champion innovation, supporting the Creative Directors in enabling artist time for R&D projects to develop skills and work samples, expanding our capabilities and enhancing their portfolio.

* Manage the Head of Pipeline & Head of Systems & Infrastructure, identifying Production's needs and supporting them to meet those challenges and to manage their respective team.

* Work closely with the Talent Manager to recruit artists and freelancers, matching production needs to artist skills, along with induction and training requirements. Develop longer term plans for staff training, recruitment and level of freelancers relative to the business growth expectations and overall cost management initiatives.

* Work closely with the Creative Director to line manage Supervisors and Heads of Discipline / Lead Artists, supporting them in turn to develop their more junior team members fostering a collaborative team culture of learning & sharing.
