Our client, an Interior Design Agency based in London (SW) is looking to add a Project Designer to their team!

Day to Day Responsibilities

Commercial and New Business
Generate, recognise and develop new business opportunities with new or existing clients
Orchestrate pitches and proposals through effective leadership and facilitation
Act as an ambassador for the company ‘brand’; striving to raise the company profile in the industry
Produce an annual strategic plan of your proposed contribution to the business eg: internal workshops, process
improvement, new business ideas, etc.
Prepare new project costings
Responsibility for project spend v budgets
Manage internal resources for sector to ensure project profitability
Ensure timesheets are logged by all team members on a weekly basis and are achieving the agreed billable time

Concept Development
In conjunction with management lead the development of concepts that provide an original, appropriate and effective solution to the creative brief
Instigate initial brainstorming for each new project
Win the confidence of the client and internal team by creating and communicating a clearly defined direction to pursue
Present and sell concepts and design solutions to client

Detail Design or Planning & Scoping
Through the team, manage the development and preparation of all scheme design activities
Coordinate workload, ensuring that all stages of the project are delivered with clarity on time and on budget
Schedule and communicate all costs and specifications internally and externally, maximising profitability projects.
Communicate effectively with key team members and client on a regular basis

Implementation
Ensure that team members coordinate and liaise with contractors, subcontractors, local authorities and all other relevant personnel as necessary to enable high quality delivery of the project
Through the team, ensure that planning applications, tender documentation and licensing drawings are prepared and submitted as required
Attend and chair client meetings ensure that minutes/contact report to all attendees is provided internally/externally as required
Ensure quality control through regular site visits and record progress

Handover
Ensure that final project delivery runs smoothly and that all FF&E and styling requirements are delivered on brief
Instigate a review of each completed project including an assessment of profitability, processes, internal communication, client communication and feedback, resource, quality of delivery, etc. Put ‘lessons learnt’ processes in place for future projects
Ensure client relationship is maintained and developed

People Management
Be responsible for the overall performance management of the team including:
Appraise all direct reports put in place a development plan for each
Develop their skills and capabilities to take on greater responsibility
Monitor their progress accordingly ensuring milestones are met
Ensure that an annual development plan for the whole sector team is put in place and actioned effectively
Delegate tasks and activities to team members effectively
Provide regular feedback about performance (both positive and developmental)
Be responsible for recruitment and induction of new team members
Providing coaching and support for more junior managers in the team to enable them to do the above for their direct reports

What you will need to know
Technical understanding of architectural design
A thorough understanding of current trends and target markets.
Product design
Knowledge of materials


Experience, Skills and Qualifications

Essential
Degree or equivalent in Interior Design, Furniture Design or Architecture
Proven design experience and highly developed creative ability gained from a related design practice (likely to be a minimum of 10 years)
Financially astute ability to recognise business opportunities and ensure that profitability of area of responsibility is maximised
Effective people management being able to lead and engage a team to develop to their full potential
Proven ability to successfully manage high profile clients
Ability to present effectively and gain buy in from audience
Interpersonal: building strong effective working relationships, internally and externally
Visualisation of other people’s ideas
Sketching and drawing
AutoCAD 2D/3D
MS Word
MS Excel

Desirable
Experience of working in at least three interior sectors (commercial residential, retail, restaurant hotel)
Experience of working on bespoke projects
MS Project
MS PowerPoint
Photoshop
Illustrator
