As an Associate Interior Designer for this AJ100 Architectural & Interior Design practice you will report to the Interiors Director and contribute to the development of the Interiors business whilst demonstrating strong design and technical ability and proven management skills running large scale projects.

Your skills, abilities and competencies will include an understanding of the design process and ability to manage/deliver this from concept to completion. You will be highly creative with the ability to produce concepts, presentations and present with confidence with a flexibility and openness of approach and willingness to work as a team player.

Your in-depth technical competency for project demands will offer an ability to provide creative solutions whilst ensuring technical requirements are met. Ability to produce Auto CAD drawings at all stages of a project will be required but you will be working closely with specialist technical designers to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Specific Responsibilities

- Assist with the day-to-day running of the London interiors department, including allocation of resources to suit individual project needs, and general development of best practice, in consultation with the Interiors Director. Establishment and monthly monitoring of project resource plans.

- Business development responsibility including regular presentations to known and existing clients. - Liaison with the Interiors Director, to optimise the use of skills and resources on a week-to-week basis and attendance at monthly Interiors management meetings to monitor progress in achieving Business Plan objectives and performance of individual projects.

- Assisting the Interiors Director with all information required for monthly reports to the Board and Management Group.

- Overseeing/leading creative design solutions and presentations for selected interiors projects and providing design leadership/guidance to the interior team on those particular projects.

- Assisting in development of systems and techniques to maximise efficiency and offer continual client service improvement and value.

General Skills, Abilities and Competencies


- Ability to take a client brief including facilitating workshops or interviews and preparation of strategic briefs

- Ability to generate design ideas that respond to the client brief and building opportunities

- Ability to use multiple media to illustrate design ideas including AutoCAD, Sketchup and Photoshop as a minimum - Ability to present ideas confidently and convincingly; both verbally and drawing.

- Ability to guide and direct design by other team members and be a mentor

- Ability to develop design into all RIBA work stages of the project including I Brief, 2 Concept , 3 Developed Design, 4 Technical Design 5 Construction and/ or lead others to produce this work

- Ability to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the company’s design ethos and vision and ensure it is communicated and demonstrated throughout project work to raise standards of design.

- Excellent knowledge of UK Building Systems, Regulations

- Develops detailed knowledge of the interiors sectors, markets and clients;

- Develops and nurtures a network of industry contacts of clients and influencers of new business

- Attends regular events and networking functions related to commercial interiors

- Develops broad understanding of current and future commercial issues;

- Fosters excellent working relationships with existing and new clients;

- Develops different marketing and networking approaches;
