We have an exciting new role for a Studio Manager to join our clients growing Design company based near to Richmond upon Thames.
The desired candidate will have the ability and creative flair to play a major part in all graphic design aspects from brief to final production, as well as overall responsibility for the processes and output delivery of the Graphic Design Studio.
You will be leading projects as well as taking responsibility for managing workflow (liaison with Marketing to intake projects, set strategy, provide estimates and schedules, and secure approvals) The role works with internal resources, as well as external when required, ensuring projects are completed against objectives and to set timelines.
A keen eye for great design and the passion to inspire and motivate members of the team will be critical in ensuring quality and consistency are maintained throughout the design and production process.
The position requires strong organizational, project management and prioritization skills, as well as proactive customer service and excellent communication skills. As the leader of the Graphic Design Studio you will have ultimate responsibility for team management, coaching and mentoring a young / inexperienced team to build their capability and quality of output.
Ensuring all briefs are dispatched in the studio and are finished to required deadlines
Create a workflow structure and job filing system, always looking for new ways to improve work flow and standards of work
Maintain the consistency of the brand by overseeing all work that leaves the studio, giving guidance to the team, and always looking for ways to improve the design output
Keep stakeholders informed about project status, ensuring ‘no surprises’
Team management - both permanent employees and freelancers - supporting the team to meet their objectives, training in best practice and motivating as required.
Lead certain projects personally from conception to completion
Evaluate, and if necessary alter, the content of projects before completion to ensure work conforms to the style and content specifications provided.
Ideal Candidate will have:
Very experienced in variety of software, especially Creative Cloud, and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat in a Mac based environment
Understanding of the fundamentals of visual communication and design.
Expertise in the creative use of type, illustration and photography as design elements.
Superior project management and organizational skills.
Experience operating effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, adept at handling crises and managing a workload of hundreds of print and digital projects.
Strong communication, decision-making and leadership skills.
Manage time efficiently - ability to prioritise deadlines and manage expectations for specific tasks.
Good attention to detail.
Strong written, verbal, and communication skills.
Candidate must be resourceful and have a strong ability to collaborate and work within a team environment; be able to mentor and direct ideas and briefs to other members of the team; whilst also being self-motivated and able to work on own with multiple projects at the same time.
Proven track record in hiring, managing and leading creative teams to succeed.
Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, commercial or communication arts preferred; demonstrated experience and portfolio of pieces showing design expertise.
5+ years of experience within the creative industry, preferably in a lead designer role and with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Previous creative agency experience is desirable.
