Senior/Principal Landscape Architect - Water & Environment

Background

My client are a leading multiple disciplinary consultancy within the built environment.

Their infrastructure division delivers projects in the UK and across the globe. They have successfully delivered many high profile projects across the UK and have recently won a £1M package of flood alleviation schemes in the Northwest of England and a number of site supervision contracts for flood alleviation schemes across the Southeast. Their clients include the Environment Agency, Local Authorities and other leading national and international infrastructure providers and pipeline of opportunities includes some of the most exciting major infrastructure projects in Europe.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of their expansion process and to help maintain and grow their position as a leading supplier of engineering and environmental services.

The Role & Responsibilities

They are currently seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, positive and confident Senior/Principal Landscape Architect to help grow their team. As part of your role you will provide a significant contribution to delivering projects for the Environment Agency and other clients across England and Wales. Projects will include a variety of fluvial and coastal flooding projects, as well as strategies and other infrastructure projects (water, rail, housing or commercial property). You will deliver the landscape elements of these projects including both the technical and managerial contributions.

Key skills

  • Provide Landscape oversight in the design of a variety of projects
  • Scoping landscape requirements with the client through
  • Conduct preliminary studies
  • Carry out Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments
  • Accurately prepare and present detailed plans and drawings of schemes
  • Prepare Works Information for landscape works, select contractor's and manage/monitor them as Landscape Clerk of Works
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

In addition to the above, you would be expected to be able to demonstrate working experience in some of the following technical areas:

  • Project Management
  • Work experience in delivering EIA
  • River/coastal projects
  • Rail projects
  • Ecology
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Town and Country Planning
  • Preparation of bids / business development

Qualifications

As the successful candidate, you will hold a BSc/MSc in a related field with experience in Landscape Architecture. You will be a member of a relevant institution and be chartered. You will be comfortable working within an EIA team and having experience working on Infrastructure projects. You will also drive on behalf of the company to visit clients/sites etc and therefore a valid UK driving licence is essential.
