Senior Lecturer/Course Coordinator: BA Graphic Design
Salary: £39,324 to £45,562 (+ £2,500 addition for CC duties) per annum

At Falmouth University, we believe there has never been a greater need for creativity to challenge conventional thinking. For more than 100 years, we have been challenging creativity and this has guided us on our journey from School of Art to a modern, creative innovation hub. Today, it is our unique approach to Higher Education that sets us apart and by responding to the growth of the creative industries, with a course portfolio that is flexible and aligned to the real world, we have increased our student numbers by more than 30% in two years and been ranked number one Arts University in the Sunday Times University Guide.

Graphic Design at Falmouth University is one of the UK’s foremost award winning undergraduate degrees, highly rated both by our students, via the National Student Survey and by the industry, with many of our graduates gaining employment in leading design and creative consultancies across the UK and abroad. We seek to inspire fresh thinking, articulate and professionally driven graduates whose passion for great ideas and questioning the world around them are prized by the leading creative agencies.

We are currently seeking a Senior Lecturer with Course Coordinator duties to complement our highly motivated and professional academic team. You will be a ‘team player’ who thrives on the challenges of working in a dynamic studio based environment and whose passion for teaching is matched by your subject and industry knowledge, organisational skills and desire for excellence.

You will be a passionate advocate for conceptual and strategic based work, with experience of branding in the contemporary communication landscape. You will have a good track record of industry success and current knowledge of creative industry developments and broader cultural insights on issues effecting design today. The ability to teach, nurture and lead project work and manage the activities of a year group will also be intrinsic to the role; developing innovative and engaging new approaches to learning and teaching in the subject. Core to your own philosophy is a love for great ideas, craft and challenging designers to think in new ways to effect change.

Whilst your skill sets and experience will allow you to teach across a diverse range of specialist areas and media if required, you will also be expected to lead in areas relating to branding and user experience. Whether currently working within the design industry or in design education, you will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of student needs and your teaching will be able to respond to and challenge emergent delivery platforms; helping graduates to create innovative, fully integrated solutions for their future professional careers as a global graphic designer today. Industry and design community connections will help inform this and also drive your own commitment to continued practice, scholarship, research and personal development.

We offer excellent facilities and benefits to our staff. These include generous holiday entitlements, pension scheme, childcare vouchers and training and development courses.
