Position: Design Technician
An opportunity to work for a growing company in a fast moving industry. Our client are market leaders in providing outdoor solutions including furniture, area management shade and shelter and play equipment.
This position would be primarily office based in Reading in the design office, liaising with the workshop team.
The role would be very much hands-on, the correct individual showing an aptitude to problem solving and working things out, with a positive and friendly attitude.
The primary responsibility would be to organise, arrange and ensure timely production is achieved.
Identifying sales orders that require components and materials to be ordered in, liaising with suppliers, processing the orders and ensuring delivery to meet production.
Drawing components for fabrication to be outsourced, for manufacture in our workshop and for our installation teams and contractors where necessary using AutoCAD and Inventor.
Creating CNC programs for our two machines, monitoring the output for constant development and improvement.
Assisting in the workshop with prototyping on occasion. Also attending site for big new jobs on occasion to ensure smooth installation if required.
Review and updating manufacturing drawings for new and existing drawings.
Maintaining a record of costings and creation of codes and BOMs in our finance system, co-ordination with our administration and logistics team, following manufacture procedures.
A background and education in engineering and design.
Good understanding of all kinds of materials and fabrication techniques including wood and metal.
Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor.
Good understanding of Microsoft Word & Excel.
Knowledge of CNC programming would be an advantage.
Knowledge of Navision an advantage.
