Job Description

We’re looking to recruit a talented, graphic designer for our busy in-house design studio. Working alongside our Head of Studio your role will be to interpret and implement our creative vision across a broad range of projects ranging from graphics, print and digital. The ideal candidate will have a strong graphic design and artwork background with an interest in digital and motion. A dynamic, thorough and enquiring approach will be required for a wide range of projects and executions. A desire to learn new skills, work across a number of projects and collaborate proactively within a team environment are also a must. 

Key knowledge, skills and competencies:

  • Advanced knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and Email/Calendar software

Knowledge of the following would be beneficial:

  • After Effects
  • Premiere Pro

Role Summary:

We believe that the learning and communication solutions we create for our clients, which are some of the world’s most prestigious and creative brands should be compelling and memorable to their audience. The successful applicant will bring a high level of expertise and imagination to deliver creative concepts as part of our client programmes, and also our own marketing. They will work as a ‘creative partnership’ with our Head of Studio to take responsibility for all studio output from DPA. A large proportion of the role involves the creation of great design and artwork for print. Increasingly there is a need for new thinking around alternative formats, especially digital, mobile and motion formats for conveying ideas and embedding learning.

Distinct Responsibilities: 

Working with authority and professionalism the individual in this role will create high quality creative graphic and digital design that will help to both maintain and build on DPA’s reputation for delivering the highest quality leadership development programmes. 

The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to further developing our creative design capability by sourcing innovative tools and concepts across digital and motion graphics. The fullest understanding of graphic design, typography, print, production and digital media is essential, as is the experience to execute projects of varying sizes on time and on budget.

The role also involves:

  • Bringing new format ideas to the consultant team for their client programmes
  • Staying up to date with industry trends
  • Generating ideas and selling them into clients and other members of the team
  • Forging and executing digital ideas that work within the parameters of client’s technology and systems
  • Encouraging others to share and explore creative design
  • Maintaining high standards (ISO9001 quality standard) and ensuring only the high quality work is released to the client. Attention to detail is critical
  • Collaborating across the consultancy to drive up standards of creativity
  • Working with Associates and outsourcing work to freelancers and specialists as appropriate

Shared Responsibilities:

  • Working with our Head of Studio as a ‘creative partnership’ to ensure the DPA studio remains ahead of the curve with design and formats to meet our clients needs both now and in the future, and to manage the day-to-day workload of the studio by prioritising and sequencing jobs

Planning, Organising and Project Management:

  • Forward thinking and able to look ahead to ensure the studio runs efficiently

  • Assisting our Head of Studio with ordering, reviewing and ensuring quality and supplier budgets, negotiating, sourcing new studio suppliers where necessary
  • Highly numerate with financial awareness and budget management expertise
  • Ability to broker and negotiate resources internally

What do we offer?

  • The job is full-time, based out of our offices near Guildford, Surrey
  • We are offering an initial 6-month fixed-term contract
