Operations manager for creative studio in Cornwall

Role:

A creative studio in Cornwall are currently seeking an operations manager to oversee sales, production, procurement and dispatch. The operations manager will hold overall responsibility for strategic supply chain management, scheduling, production and logistics - overseeing the entire process and ensuring the excellent running of operations from crafting to delivering high-quality steam bent lighting and furniture to high end and discerning customers.

General

  • the creation and maintenance of systems and processes for scheduling, stock management, procurement and logistics
  • direct reports will be - sales, workshop manager, logistics
  • responsible for quality throughout the process - from suppliers through to finished products
  • responsible for driving efficiency throughout the entire process
  • responsible for waste reduction throughout the business
  • problem-solving/troubleshooting, implementation of 5 Why and route cause analysis
  • creating and ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures throughout order to dispatch process
  • health and safety policies and procedures and ensuring that all employees work in a safe way at all times
  • people management
  • in charge of dispatch and stock management

Sales

  • management of lead times of all products
  • provide regular and accurate communication between the workshop, sales team and dispatch to ensure that dispatch dates are met, lead times are realistic and customers are kept updated at all times
  • create and maintain systems that prevent orders being late or communication failing

Production

  • weekly production of the production schedule and review of daily output from the workshop
  • ensure employees are working to pre-agreed standards (timings, quality) and provide training where necessary
  • ensure all products are made to the expected standards
  • overall ownership of all products
  • machine maintenance & the introduction of new machinery
