Award-winning publishing house and content marketing agency based in London is looking for a traffic/production manager to look after the workflow and design team.

Job Spec:

Responsible for the planning, execution and project management of the entire production and design department to ensure finished products are completed to agreed timescales whilst ensuring they are produced to an exceptional standard.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Schedule and manage the workflow of the internal design department
  2. Keep an accurate record of design hours spent on all projects and ensure this matches the design hours available for Special Report projects, and design hours sold for Custom Publishing Projects
  3. Oversee and schedule the creation of content for advertorials or advertisements on behalf of the client to ensure the finished product meets the standards expected by all stakeholders
  4. Co-ordinate with publishing teams, freelance editorial staff, design and production teams to ensure the timely completion of projects whilst maintaining quality standards
  5. Provide relevant and regular updates to all internal and external stakeholders in a calm and confident manner throughout the timeline of the schedule to ensure the efficient running of each project or campaign
  6. Project manage the creative development of all internal materials to ensure finished products are completed on time and of an exceptional standard
  7. Manage the relationship with distribution partners (optioning and booking publication dates and the delivery of run-ons)
  8. Manage the relationship with image agencies and monitor usage to ensure the Company is billed correctly
  9. Checking artwork submitted by clients to ensure it meets correct specifications
  10. Drive continuous development to achieve best practice methods within the team and ensure team members are always motivated to achieve best practice
  11. Manage and oversee the administrative duties around the design and production team (holiday sign-off, sick days etc.) to ensure minimal impact on schedules and quality

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

  • Experience of working in a publishing house or agency, ideally with a knowledge of print publishing
  • Superb communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Organised, disciplined and have a keen eye for details and process
  • Experience of working and performing in a high pressured environment
  • Interest in current affairs/industries/publishing
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Stakeholder management skills
  • Evidence of ability to effectively create and manage multiple production schedules to tight deadlines
  • Enthusiastic and inspirational individual with a track record of managing teams
  • Familiarity of Adobe InDesign
