Over the last year, Kew’s Creative Services team has worked on 1,000 design projects to help Kew’s 1.9 million visitors find out more, find their way around, and find out how they can help support Kew’s vital work for the future. There have been festivals and exhibitions to promote, international research projects to launch, members, supporters and funders to be kept informed.

As Kew’s challenges and ambitions grow, so do the demands on Creative Services. That’s why we’re transforming our team, and the services we provide.

We are expanding our team and are looking for an experienced, technically-skilled designer/manager to become our new Deputy Head of Design. You’ll be joining our busy creative team to support the Head of Design, taking the lead in managing our staff and its services.  You’ll be planning and directing the work of the expanding team that Kew requires to deliver its visitor services and business goals – from interpretation and wayfinding to marketing and internal and freelance designers to help deliver the broad range of communications and events.

You will need to be skilled in design and artworking for a range of platforms and media, and likely to be an experienced manager in a busy, productive studio environment. You will set and maintain performance standards, advise on the team’s response to briefs and work closely with the Production and Traffic Manager to ensure the team has the resources it needs to deliver its programme of work effectively and efficiently.

Salary will be £37,177 - £44,296 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
